  Aims and Scope:
The aim of this journal (International Journal of Thermodynamics) is to serve as a forum and central source of reference for applied and theoretical thermodynamics with emphasis on the dissemination of technical information of permanent interest, particularly in current applications and proposed improvement in industry. Thus, in addition to being of interest to academicians, in general, it is geared to appeal to experts in industry.

  International Centre for Applied Thermodynamics:
International Journal of Thermodynamics (IJoT) is a publication of the International Centre for Applied Thermodynamics-ICAT founded in 1997 at the Technical University of Istanbul. This Centre and Journal aim to bring together academicians and practitioners in this general area to better serve the needs of all.

THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF THERMODYNAMICS
General Information for Authors

Aims and Scope

The aim of this Journal is to serve as a forum and central source of reference for thermodynamics with emphasis on the dissemination of technical information of permanent interest as it relates to theory in general and to current applications and proposed improvements in industry in particular.  Thus, in addition to being of interest to academicians, it is geared to appeal to experts in industry.

Notes for Contribution

Word document of the manuscript should be sent to one of the chief editors (M. von Spakovsky, vonspako@vt.edu; D. Baker, dbaker@metu.edu.tr; M. Koksal, koksalm@hacettepe.edu.tr) and cc to ICAT (mknicat@itu.edu.tr) as an attachment of e-mail.  Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that this paper has not been published elsewhere nor has it been submitted for publication elsewhere.  However, papers published in Proceedings of national/international meetings will be considered for publication. Technical Notes will also be accepted for review and publication.  The body of the paper should be in two column format with measurements that approximately mirror the columns used in this section.  The pages of the manuscript should be set up on the computer as follows:

Top Margin

2.5 cm

Gutter

0.75 cm

Bottom Margin

2.0 cm

Space from edge

Left Margin

2.5 cm

Header

1 cm

Right Margin

2.5 cm

Footer

2 cm

Titles of papers should be brief.  The title should be written in Times New Roman 14 point font, bold and centred.  The author(s) information should be centred and printed in Times New Roman 11 point font, should include full name(s) of author(s) and should also state the business connection, the title of the position held, the mailing and e-mail addresses and who is the correspondent.
A short abstract of 100 words should be included on the first page immediately preceding the introductory paragraph of paper.  The abstract should be in one column format, 11 point Times New Roman Font and should be single spaced. See “Aims and Scope” above. Keywords in italic should follow the Abstract.
Manuscripts should be prepared on the computer with Times New Roman 10 point font and should be single spaced.  Care should be taken to distinguish between capital and lower case letters, between (0) and the letter (O), between the numeral (1) and the letter (l), et cetera.

                Word Equation Editor 3.0 should be used for all equations. Equations should be based on the following: text/variables - Times New Roman 10;

subscripts/superscripts - Times New Roman 8; subsubscripts/superscripts - Times New Roman 7; symbols (e.g., summations, integrals, etc.) - font size 14; and sub-symbols - font size 10. A combination of plain and italic font modes can be used although the principal font mode should be plain. If an equation cannot fit on a single line then it should be continued on the next. Equations should be centred and have a number at the right hand margin of the text. TABLE captions should be in capital letters, centred and above the table; Figure captions should be italic, centred and below the figure. Horizontal figures and tables which span over two column should be either at the bottom or at the top of the page.

A Nomenclature should be included with appropriate dimensions for the variables used.  All manuscripts submitted must use SI (Metric) units throughout including the tables and figures. The text of the manuscript should not exceed 8 Journal pages. Technical Notes may not exceed 2 Journal pages.

References should be cited in the text by giving the last name of the author(s) and the year of the publication of the reference: either "(Smith and Jones, 1985)..." or "Recently Smith and Jones (1985)..." should be used. With three or more names, use the form "Smith et al. (1985)..." in the text.  When two or more references would have the same identification, distinguish them by appending "a", "b", et cetera to the year of publication.

References should be listed in alphabetical order according to the last name of the first author. Bejan, A., 1988, Advanced Engineering Thermo-dynamics, John Wiley & Sons, New York.
